Get the best out of your new home by being informed from the beginning.
You're looking to rent a new flat; but do you know all that you need to know about the process? Have you taken all the necessary steps to ensure you’re well informed before taking the next to moving in? This is a step-by-step guide to help you make the best decisions before moving into a flat.
Questions, questions, questions!
It is always the best idea to view the property that you would like to move into with a qualified agent who can answer any questions you may have. Asking as many questions as possible during the early stages puts you in a good position to make choices that will best suit your lifestyle and requirements.
Are you prepared?
Before jumping in to sign a lease and moving all your precious possessions; there are a few things you need to have on hand as a prospective tenant. These include:
- Personal information
It is important to have all your documentation prepared in advance to assist in not only speeding up the process but making it smoother and less stressful for you. The documentation you will be required to provide includes copies of your ID, payslip and the most recent three (3) bank statement. If you are self-employed Ithemba Property requires you to provide company registration documents, an affidavit that pertains to your earnings as well as 2 months deposit.
- Affordability
Ensuring that you are in a financial position that allows you to pay for your first month’s rent as well as your deposit upfront and any other necessities required when moving. You will need to be able to keep up with your monthly rental amount and fees for additional costs such as utilities, parking, etc. [cashback]
