Know Your Agent: Siyabonga Zulu
Siyabonga Zulu is one of Ithemba Property’s go-to guys who knows the ins and outs of Johannesburg. If you’re looking for something or somewhere specific that’ll match your needs to the ‘T’; he’s your guy.
IPM: How long have you worked at Ithemba Property?
I have been working for Ithemba for over 1 year
IPM: How long have you worked in the property/rental industry?
I have worked in the rental and sales market since 2015. I started working in real estate for Century21 in Richards Bay, on the coast of KZN.
IPM: What is a typical day like?
A typical day for me is extremely busy. My day is scheduled to start at 5 am. Waking up to reading, cycling and some office admin before I kick start the scheduled viewings for that day. I close off each day with doing client applications.
IPM: Favourite memory from work?
My favourite memory is when I was able to help a family who was desperately looking for a new place. The family experienced a few issues along the way, but all was resolved in the end. The client’s happiness and gratitude really made that memory one of the best.
IPM: What’s a common question you get from customers?
Common questions relate to lease details and the general safety and hygiene of our buildings.
IPM: What do you like most about your job?
The seemingly simple task of helping a client who has relocated from a different province/country relate to their new surroundings and finding a place to call home with Ithemba for the next 12 months or more!
IPM: Where are you from?
Originally born in Johannesburg, my grandfather thought it a good idea to retire in KZN, thus uprooting the entire family with him. I have always wanted to come back to Joburg and build my life this side. As soon as I got the Chace, I did just that.
IPM: Where did you go to school?
I went to school in Felicton College and Windremere St Annes which is in the United Kingdom. I did a bit of A-levels here and then completed Matric back in SA.
IPM: What do you like to do when you aren’t working?
If I am not working, I am most likely cycling or reading. I want to take up water sports this year, so that is also coming to be an option.
IPM: What’s a fun fact about you many people may not know?
I have been on TV. A reality TV show called Made in SA. They filmed 3 days of my life back in 2013 when I was a student at UJ. Funny that I think of it, all the things I did and said during those 3 days remain the same to this day. Also, I can not bring myself to watch that entire show as I despise the sound of my voice.
