ITHEMBA PROPERTY CORONAVIRUS TENANTS NOTIFICATION
Dear Tenant,
On Sunday 27 June 2021, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced that South Africa is moving to an Adjusted Alert Level 4 to curb the spread of the 3rd wave of COVID-19. His directive is clear – all South Africans should isolate as far as possible at home for 14 days from Monday 28 June 2021. “Our priority is to break the chain of transmission by reducing person-to-person contact and thereby help to flatten the curve”. The only thing that we, as citizens, can do is to try our best to slow down its progress taking extra precautions to protect the elderly and sick.
Following on from our President’s speech of Sunday night (27 June 2021), Ithemba Property will be implementing the following urgent and stringent measures in line with the stipulated regulations to help prevent the virus from entering and / or spreading within our buildings. Note that the objective of these measures is to protect you and your families from this imminent threat.
- Wearing of a face mask
- The wearing of a face mask is mandatory for every person in a public place, excluding a child under the age of six years and any person who fails to comply with a verbal instruction by a law enforcement officer to wear a face mask, commits an offence which is, on conviction, liable for a fine or imprisonment not exceeding six months or both. A ‘face mask’ means a cloth face mask or a homemade item that covers the nose and mouth, or another appropriate item to cover the nose and mouth.
- All tenants who enter and exists the building is expected to wear a face mask until he is in his flat/apartment. This means that security will not allow a tenant to enter, exit, use the staircases, use the elevators or be in any other area apart from his flat/apartment without wearing a face mask.
- Sanitizing
- Hand sanitisers will continue to be placed at every reception within the building. Any person entering or exiting the building will be requested to sanitise both hands before going through the turnstile.
- The fingerprint readers will continue to be cleaned regularly. Note that security will not allow any tenant or visitor into the building if they have not made use of the sanitisers placed at the turnstiles.
- Furthermore our cleaners will continue to be using protective gear and employ stricter and increase cleaning procedures to try and keep all surfaces in common areas that are frequently touched clean and virus free.
- Personal Hygiene
- We strongly suggest that all tenants wash their hands for 20 seconds when entering and exiting your flat.
- Posters have been placed at reception areas of buildings to indicate how to wash your hands properly.
- Movement of Persons
- Visitors will be expected to adhere to the curfew times of 21:00 – 04:00. Visitors must exit all buildings before 21:00 to avoid violating government regulations. Normal visitor rules apply.
- Gatherings
- Social gatherings are strictly prohibited as per the lockdown regulations. Social gatherings are defined as gathering of tenants and occupants who are not from the same unit.
- In this regard; all communal areas in the building will remain open but will be closed at 21:00 every evening until further notice.
- All Play areas in the building will remain open but will be closed at 18:00 every evening until further notice.
- All Gyms in the buildings will be closed until further notice.
- The use of communal braai areas will also be restricted to the tenant and the occupants of their household within the relevant building in order to avoid any form of social gatherings.
- NO alcohol will be allowed to be consume in any public or communal areas in the buildings.
It is every tenants responsibility to follow the regulations as set out by the Government. It is not the landlord’s responsibility to enforce adherence of the law.
We are aware that these measures may be very strict but remember that everyone's health is our primary concern.
Together we can get through this but we all need to play our part.
Stay safe and stay healthy!
